ACA: Basics

Celebrating One Year of the Affordable Care Act

Welcome to the Raising Wisconsin Women’s Voices Blog! We are pleased to kickoff our blog with a week’s worth of celebration in honor of the one-year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

Over this week, nearly two-hundred events will be taking place across the country to celebrate the anniversary of the ACA. Seniors, small businesses, faith communities, and young people will all come together to share how they are already benefiting from the law and to highlight what’s at stake as opponents of reform work overtime to take away those benefits and put insurance companies back in charge of health care decisions for America’s families.

In celebration of the one-year anniversary and the many ways women have benefitted, each day this week has been designated to highlight how the health care law helps different communities:

  • Monday, March 21 – Protecting Small Businesses
  • Tuesday, March 22 – Protecting Seniors
  • Wednesday, March 23 – Anniversary and Patient’s Bill of Rights
  • Thursday, March 24 – Protecting Women’s Care
  • Friday, March 25 – Protecting Young People

On this blog we will be commenting each day about the particular significance of the ACA to women in each above community. Throughout the week, please share your stories with us. Comment about the ways in which the ACA has impacted your life. Stay informed, active, and involved! It’s time to move forward and protect women’s health care.
