ACA in Wisconsin, ACA: Basics

New Health Care Law, Two Years and Counting!

Can you believe it? It’s been almost two years since the passage of the health care reform law – the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In celebration of the incredible opportunities that the ACA has brought – and will continue to bring – Wisconsin women and their families, we will be participating with National Women’s Law Center, Know Your Care – Wisconsin, as well as with the Countdown to Coverage Campaign through Raising Women’s Voices in an event to recognize the benefits of the new health law and women.   Many reforms by the ACA have already been implemented and we want to Raise Wisconsin Women’s Voices by sharing your story!

Do you…

Have a child with a chronic illness such as asthma or diabetes that is covered? (Children can no longer be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition!) Share your story!

Are you…

A young woman who recently gained or have been able to maintain coverage through your parent’s insurance plan? We want to hear from you!

Or, are you…

An older women receiving coverage through Medicare and have received preventive health services – like vaccinations or colon cancer screenings– with no additional charges – or, have you created a personalized prevention plan with the help of your doctor during your free annual wellness exam? Click, here to tell us about it!

Did you…

Receive preventative care – such as cholesterol or blood pressure screening or a mammogram – with no copay, co-insurance or deductible? Tell us your story!

Have you…

Been denied heath care coverage because of a pre-existing condition and found comfort through the Pre-Existing Insurance Plan (PCIP) – or HIRSP Federal in Wisconsin? Or, have you previously been dropped from your health coverage after being diagnosed with a serious illness, such as breast cancer? This practice, known as recession, is now prohibited from insurance company practices. And, soon, adults, too, will be protected from being denied from pre-existing conditions. We want to hear your story!

If you would like to share your very important story to highlight the many benefits brought to women and families throughout the last two years, you can do so by clicking here!
